Luxembourg Launches its PCDS Platform to Ensure Transparency Across Supply Chains by Standardizing Circular Data of Products
As a neutral structure majority-owned by the Luxembourg state, the Economic Interest Group (GIE) "Terra Matters" has launched its Product Circularity Data Sheet (PCDS) platform, a SaaS solution enabling companies to create, exchange, and authenticate Product Circularity Data Sheets and ensuring transparency across supply chains. By standardizing circular data, the platform is set to revolutionize industries and facilitate the adoption of eco-design principles worldwide.
“The launch of the PCDS platform further positions Luxembourg as a key player in the global circular economy movement and showcases the nation’s innovative approach to solving sustainability challenges” comments Lex Delles, Luxembourg’s Minister of the Economy. “The initiative shows our commitment to fostering circular economy and innovative solutions in Luxembourg and well beyond our borders. The digital data platform of Terra Matters is a powerful tool to implement circular business models, co-developed with European companies for European and global value chains.”
Based on a public-private partnership including Luxembourg’s Ministry of the Economy and the Chamber of Commerce, Terra Matters strives to simplify and promote the widespread adoption of the PCDS. The initiative stems from Luxembourg’s “Circularity Dataset Standardization Initiative”, and lead to the development of the ISO 59040 standard that aims to standardize and authenticate circular economy data, facilitating sustainable practices on a global scale.
With the launch of the PCDS platform, Terra Matters is poised to expand its impact, helping businesses worldwide adopt more circular practices while highlighting Luxembourg as a beacon of innovation in the global sustainability arena.
“Terra Matters’ essence is to make circularity accessible to all industries by ensuring that data in product lifecycle, and reuse potential, is both reliable and widely accessible,” says Jérôme Dierickx, CEO of Terra Matters.
