AFP-INFOPLUM wins Outstanding New Product Award at Asian Digital Media Conference
The Football (Soccer) Data Cube, a responsive html application covering football (soccer) competitions including the recent World Cup, won a Gold Award for the Outstanding New Product Category of the year at the Asian Digital Media Awards 2014 organized by WAN-IFRA in Singapore on November 18.
AFP, the global press agency, and infoplum, a leading Australian company providing multimedia solutions for sports, collaborated to produce the application presenting live results, news, pictures, 3D goals and other engaging information on the matches.
This particular application and the xml data were embedded on 161 websites, including prestigious Asia-Pacific media such as South China Morning Post, Apple Daily, ibnlive, Vietnam+, Utusan, Sinchew, The West Australian, Vnexpress.net, 24h.com.vn, Samsung SportsFlow. The app featured content filed by the 180 sportswriters, photographers and others that we sent to Brazil to cover the World Cup.
“We offered comprehensive coverage of the event and combined this with infoplum’s data and technical expertise to build the app,” AFP Regional Director for the Asia-Pacific, Gilles Campion, said.
The Managing Director of infoplum, Arun Khanna, said his company leveraged leading-edge technologies to integrate live scores and results, historical stats and trivia from their Sportsflash database with live news, star bios, venue details, World Cup history and images from AFP. “The result was an engaging and informative application that was immensely popular world-wide with an astonishing total of 4.1 billion hits. That’s 153 million hits per day” Khanna said.
Since their worldwide partnership kicked-off in 2012, AFP and infoplum have been offering a range of applications to publishers and brands for all platforms covering more than 150 sports competitions worldwide.
