The African Fact-Checking Awards
The AFP Foundation, the non-profit media training arm of the AFP news agency, will unveil – at a meeting of senior figures from the African media industry in Nairobi on the evening of Friday 14 November – the names of the winner and two runners up the first ever African Fact-Checking Awards.
These will be announced via the @AFP and @AFP_Foundation Twitter feeds, with photos, the names of the winner and runners up, photos, and quotes, and this will be followed up on Monday 17 November, by a full press release with all details.
For background, more than 40 leading journalists from 10 countries across Africa - Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Madagascar, Nigeria, South Africa, Tunisia, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe, entered the awards, which were created earlier this year by AFP Foundation, in partnership with its African fact-checking project www.AfricaCheck.org.

The winner of the prize will receive a prize of €2000, and two runners up each receive a prize of €1000.
