Aref Karimi named “Journalist of the year” by the Afghanistan Journalists Centre
Our Kabul VJ, Aref Karimi, has been named “Journalist of the year” by the Afghanistan Journalists Centre, an association of journalists from across the country.
He shared the distinction with Hasib Bahesh, editor for Hasht-e Subh, Sedaqat Ghorzang, a correspondent for ToloNews, and Qutbuddin Kohi, a correspondent for Pajhwok News.
The prize is for our multi-media story produced in October 2021 from Badghis, showing how climate change had become deadlier than war for Afghans. In this province, located in the northwest of the country, the lack of rain is ravaging the fields, depriving the animals of water and food, and exposing at least 90% of the population to a situation of acute food insecurity.
