Mexico: AFP photographer Pedro Pardo awarded by Walter Reuter prizePedro Pardo, AFP journalist at the Mexico bureau, has been awarded by German prize of journalism Walter Reuter 2022 in the Photography category.

Pedro has been awarded for his reportage on the construction of Yucatán's Maya train, which has been very controversial.
His photos and aerial views show a forest that has been scarred by tree cutting to make room for railways.
The Mexico bureau has widely covered the conflict between the Mexican government, which assures the train is a lever of development, and an opposition that condemns an irrevocable damage to the environment.
