Three AFP photographers awarded by the White House News Photographers Association
Three AFP photographers – Brendan Smialowski, Jewel Samad and Saul Loeb – were awarded at the 2015 ceremony of the WHNPA.
Brendan Smialowski
Brendan Smialowski received three 1st prizes in the following categories: “Political Photo of the Year”, “Political Portfolio”, and “Picture Story/Politics”. He was also awarded 2nd prize in the “Portrait/Personality” category, 3rd prize in the “Portfolio” category, and received the “Insider’s Washington” award of excellence.
Jewel Samad
Jewel Samad was awarded 1st prize in the “Picture Story/News” category and 2nd prize in the “Domestic News” category.
Saul Loeb
Saul Loeb was awarded 1st prize in the “Insider’s Washington” category.
The WHNPA was founded in 1921 by seventeen photographers who regularly followed the president at the time, Warren G. Harding.
