The AFP Foundation to sign an agreement with the Emirate of Fujairah
An agreement to be signed in Paris today between the AFP Foundation and the Fujairah Culture & Media Authority (FMCA) allows for journalism training by the AFP Foundation in Fujairah, and the performance of a range of media-related services by AFP Services.
Fujairah is one of the seven United Arab Emirates. Smaller and less populated than Abu Dhabi and Dubai, Fujairah is nevertheless experiencing rapid economic growth thanks to the development of its infrastructure. It has decided in parallel to invest in its communications sector.
The agreement with the FCMA follows several weeks of training for journalists and press photographers in Fujairah delivered by the AFP Foundation last year.
"Our training courses are central to the development of the activity of the AFP Foundation”, said Emmanuel Hoog, AFP’s chief executive and chairman of the Foundation. “The Emirate of Fujairah wishes to enhance the professional skills of its journalists. This long-term cooperation agreement will allow us to apply our skills to enable Fujairah to pursue that goal, which will find its full realization in the free exercise of journalism.
" The agreement is to be signed by Sheikh Rashed bin Hamad al Sharki, chairman of the FCMA and son of the Emir of Fujairah, Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed al Sharki.
AFP Services, a subsidiary of the news agency, is in charge of organizing conferences, photo exhibitions and other media-linked events for the FCMA.
