AFP’s Bulent Kilic chosen as the Guardian’s photographer of the year
The Guardian announced today that it has picked Agence France-Presse’s Bulent Kilic as photographer of the year for his coverage of the Middle East and Europe.
The Guardian chose the 35 year old Turkish photojournalist for his coverage of Ukraine, Turkey and Syria.
Kilic began his career working for the local press and became a photojournalist in 2003, joining AFP two years later as a freelance. He is currently the Agency’s chief photographer for Turkey.
He has already won several prizes in 2014, with his work recognized at the Bayeux-Calvados War Correspondents Awards, the National Press Photographers Association (NPPA) Awards and the China International Press Contest (CHIPP).
He was chosen as Time Magazine’s agency photographer of the year on December 22.
