AFP's fact-checks cited as benchmark by German study
Germany’s respected Grimme institute has just published a comparative analysis of fact-checking organisations in the country, which highlights the quality of Agence France-Presse’s digital verification production.
‘‘We strongly recommend AFP’s fact-checks, which are thoroughly researched,” the analysis said. “They are well- argued and largely based on their own verification work, as well as on questions directly asked to institutions and experts.’’
In the study, which was published on the medienbildungshub website, the Grimme Institute reviewed the output of six fact-checking media in Germany.
In addition to its analyses, the institute is known for its annual award for the best national television programme, which is considered the top media prize in Germany.
AFP, which has four German-speaking fact-checkers based in Berlin and Vienna, has published fact-checks in German since 2020.
They can be seen at faktencheck.afp.com.
