AFP's German Service is strengthening its coverage of the Middle East
The new correspondent will enable AFP GmbH to intensify its role as a first-hand supplier of international news in German. “The events of the last few days and weeks show that the Middle East remains at the center of international news,” German service editor-in-chief Daniel Jahn emphasized on this occasion. “In addition to Israel and the Palestinian territories, our correspondent will provide thorough coverage of the neighboring countries and of subjects of special interest to Germany,” he added. AFP’s first German-speaking correspondent in Jerusalem will be Clemens Wortmann, former editor-in-chief of the German service and member of the GmbH management, who was replaced as the GmbH head on 1 October by M. Enno Müller, AFP Director for Germany. AFP GmbH, a wholly-owned AFP subsidiary, employs more than 50 journalists in Germany, as well as in Paris, Strasbourg, Brussels, Washington and Istanbul.
