The amazing Rio Carnival in full HD 16/9 with AFPTV!
The Carnival in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, is the most famous celebration of its kind the world. Two million people gather each day on the streets or at the world-famous “Sambodromo” to enjoy this fantastic event. Official dates are February 17th to 22nd but AFPTV’s special coverage will begin as soon as February 6th, thanks to its team of fully-fledged broadcast reporters. With a choice of preliminary special reports, AFPTV will bring the spotlight on the feverish pre-Carnival preparations, on Rio de Janeiro’s extraordinary beauty and landscapes, as well as on the people: Cariocas and tourists alike will share their excitement on camera.
AFPTV will also provide an in-depth coverage of the daily life and issues in the booming Rio megalopolis: its economic growth, the upcoming World Soccer Championship, the major urban renewal projects being undertaken. Those left on the lackluster backsides of Brazil’s “miracle rise” to Latin America’s first business power, will obviously play a special part in that coverage. The origins, meaning and mysteries of the Carnival will be unveiled as well, from the huge official event to the many “off” and “off off” block parties all around the city.
In-depth coverage of the world news and events through human interest, fully edited and scripted reports is one of AFPTV’s core editorial assets. But AFPTV’s reporters will of course provide a full and timely “hot news” coverage, should any dramatic or unforeseen event disrupt the party. During the official Carnival Days, in Rio as well as through an in-road into Sao Paulo, AFPTV will produce several videos per day: parades, championships, gigantic shows, scenic street scenes, samba dancers and musicians, gawking audiences from Rio and around the world, there will be no lack of spectacular footage.
All images will be shot and transmitted in HD 16/9, the highest existing quality for news filming. Agence France-Presse was the first among the global news agencies to go full HD in September 2010. Thanks to this technical and editorial breakthrough, AFP’s video clients around the world, TVs, web, mobile, public screens and others, will enjoy in just a few weeks a highly privileged insight into the Rio Carnival’s dazzling beauty and colors.
