Exceptional AFP editorial and technical deployment for the Rio Olympics
An AFP team of more than 185 accredited staff will provide text, photo, video, infographics and videographics coverage of the first Olympic Games to be held in South America. As a recognised Olympic agency, AFP will have privileged access.
A pioneer in the use of subaquatic robots, AFP has been a leader in underwater photography since the 2004 Athens Olympics.
In Rio around 20 robotic cameras will be installed, including three underwater cameras for the swimming events, along with 30 remote controlled cameras offering multiple shooting angles.
AFP is also expanding its live coverage offer so that nothing is missed.
Each day of the Games will be covered by live reports featuring the best of AFP’s production -- text, photos, videos, graphics and tweets.
A full coverage schedule will be offered:
- 600 dispatches in the Agency’ six languages providing coverage of the sporting action, behind-the-scenes stories, news from the Olympic village and key events.
- More than 1,000 photos will be available, along with themed slideshows and archive images from previous Games.
- Some 300 videos in six languages will be transmitted; live video will follow the highlights of the Games, behind-the-scenes news, the 11,000 athletes and the 28 sports.
- More than 100 fixed graphics presenting the competition, the Olympic sports and the stadiums are now available. During the competition the medal tables will be regularly updated, with graphics on the major events, podiums, athletes and records. A dozen videographics presenting the Rio Olympics, the history of the Games and the key sports have also been produced.
An interactive application in English, French, Spanish and Portuguese, designed for web and mobile platforms, will offer access to the events schedule, results, medal tables and records.
This customisable application can be enriched with optional extras such as the daily photo gallery, a selection of historic images and videos.
