AFP participates in European Fact-Checking Standards Network first annual conference
AFP, in association with the European Fact-Checking Standards Network (EFCSN) and other European stakeholders, is participating in EFCSN’s first annual conference in Brussels on October 29, 2024.
The conference will cover issues impacting fact-checkers and the fight against disinformation across Europe, from the topic of harassment to a session dedicated to “Leveraging Fact-Check Data in the AI Revolution,” which will explore the opportunities and challenges artificial intelligence presents for the digital investigation world.
Attendees will discuss pre-bunking -- and how to tackle misinformation before key news events -- as well as the influence of both foreign and domestic disinformation on the media landscape in European countries.
“This conference is an opportunity for the fact-checking community in Europe to collaborate with each other and with those invested in our work,” said EFCSN coordinator Stephan Mündges.
The conference will convene AFP and other EFCSN partners involved the FactCRICIS project -- an initiative co-funded by the European Union and focused on building a climate expert database and an AI-powered library of fact-checks on environmental questions.

This event is co-funded by the European Union. Views and opinions expressed are, however, those of the author(s) only.

The European Fact-Checking Standards Network is an association of fact-checking organisations who commit to the standards of independence, transparency, and journalistic quality outlined in the European Code of Standards for Independent Fact-Checking Organisations.
