AFP photo exhibition "Road to Paris 2024" opens in Bangkok

The AFP photo exhibition "En route pour Paris 2024" opened on Friday July 5 at the Alliance Française in Thailand.

It brings together 24 emotionally charged photos taken by the agency's photojournalists during previous Olympics and preparatory events for the Paris Games. The evening event in Bangkok attracted some 200 members of the media, AFP officials, partners and clients.

With the Olympics in France, "we're playing a bit of a home game," said Stéphane Delfour, Director for South-East Asia, adding that "AFP will deploy 200 journalists, including 70 photographers, and provide 400 text stories, 1,500 photos and 40 videos every day during the competition".

Guests at the event took part in some of the sports featured in the photos, including some fiery games of badminton, Asia's star sport. Thailand is the Southeast Asian country sending the largest delegation to Paris, with 47 athletes.
Supported by Decathlon, AFP created and presented the 'En route pour 2024' exhibition for the PhotoHanoi festival in Vietnam last year."

The exhibition then toured several other Asian capitals (Manila, Jakarta, Tokyo and Beijing), exhibiting photos of local athletes at each stop.
Following its run in Bangkok, the exhibition will be showcased at the other two Alliance Française locations in Thailand – Phuket and Chiang Mai.
