AFP photographer Oli Scarff awarded at the British Sports Journalism awards
Oli Scarff won the prize for outstanding single picture in the "Away from the Action" category at the 2017 British Sports Journalism awards (SJA).
His picture was taken during the “Royal Shrovetide football” match, a traditional blend of football and rugby played once a year by the people of Ashbourne, a village in central England.
Based in the Manchester area, Oli Scarff joined AFP in 2014 after working for the Daily Telegraph and then Getty Images. He covers the news in the north of England.
