AFP shocked by death of Reuters photojournalist Danish Siddiqui in Afghanistan
It is with deep shock and sadness that AFP learned of the tragic death of Reuters photojournalist Danish Siddiqui – killed during a clash between Afghan security forces and Taliban fighters near the Afghan border with Pakistan.
A highly respected and admired journalist, and a Pulitzer Prize-winner, Danish was well known to many AFP staff – both in India where has was based and also across the agency’s wider network.
Coverage of Afghanistan has taken a particularly heavy toll in terms of journalist casualties over the years, and we join our colleagues at Reuters in mourning this latest tragedy. All our thoughts and sympathies are with the Siddiqui family.
