"A bonne distance(s)": a major AFP photo exhibition launches in Rabat
From March 29 to June 30th 2021, AFP presents "A bonne distance(s)", an exhibition of more than 200 images, in partnership with the French Cultural Institutes of Morocco and the National Foundation of Museums of Morocco.
A selection of photos taken by Agence France-Presse photographers all around the world during the Covid-19 pandemic will be on display for three months, across various locations in Rabat.
The aim is to offer the general public a different perspective on this pandemic that has turned the world upside down. To show how every day, from the streets of Wuhan to the avenues of New York, to the temples of Bangkok, the balconies of Paris, the terraces of Rabat or the forests of the Amazon, AFP reporters were on the ground to give a face to the invisible enemy. To tell the story— in the words of AFP’s CEO Fabrice Fries—of this "global upheaval, and then the hesitant, delicate return to normal life".
The exhibition is above all about showing human resilience, our incredible ability to adapt in the face of the virus, with images illustrating the talent of the Agency's photographers in the field.

The exhibition "A bonne distance(s)" is being held at the National Photography Museum, recently opened in a historic monument in Rabat, as well as three outdoor sites, in urban locations accessible to all:
- the gates at the entrance of the Jardin d’Essais botanical garden
- the gates of the French Institute of Rabat,
- the esplanade of the National Photography Museum.
Thousands of young people from the capital's working-class neighborhoods will be able to visit the exhibition under the supervision of mediators, thanks to a partnership with the company Redal. For many of them, it will be the first time they have set foot in a museum.
The opening ceremony, scheduled for Monday, March 29th at the National Photography Museum, coincides with Francophonie Month. Following its run in Rabat, the outdoor part of the exhibition will be presented in various cities over the next few months thanks to the network of French Institutes in Morocco.
