AFP Digital Courses recognised as Webby Awards' official honoree

AFP’s online courses in digital investigation techniques have been recognised as an official honoree for the 28th Annual Webby Awards in the category ‘Websites and Mobile Sites’.

The training created by AFP’s award-winning fact-checking team and supported by the Google News Initiative offers fourteen open-access courses for journalists and journalism students in English, French, Spanish and Portuguese. The courses’ topics range from elections, climate disinformation and learning basic to advanced search techniques in digital investigation.

“We’re proud to be recognised by the Webby Awards for training that aims to keep journalists up to date with digital investigation techniques from our global team,” said Sophie Nicholson, Deputy Chief Editor of AFP Digital Investigation.

Hailed as the “Internet’s highest honour” by The New York Times, the Webby Awards recognise excellence in nine major media categories: Websites and Mobile Sites, Video, Advertising, Media & PR, Apps & Software, Social, Podcasts, Games, and AI, Metaverse & Virtual. This year, the competition received 13,000 entries from over 70 countries worldwide.

Established in 1996, the Webbys are presented by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences, with a 3000-member judging body comprised of internet industry experts.
