Three AFP photojournalists have won prizes in the 2016 Days Japan photo contest

Abd Doumany received the third prize for his image of child casualties of Syrian government air raids in the rebel-held town of Douma, in November 2015. He was earlier awarded the second prize in the “General News Stories” category of the World Press Photo for the same coverage.

Karam Al-Masri received a special jury prize for his image of a makeshift barricade made of wreckages of buses to obstruct the view of regime snipers, in Aleppo in March 2015.

Christophe Archambault received also a special jury prize for one of his pictures of Rohingya migrants left adrift in the waters between Malaysia and Thailand, in May 2015.
