Fabrice Fries (AFP) elected new President of the European Alliance of News Agencies

Fabrice Fries, CEO of Agence France-Presse, was elected as the new President of the European Alliance of News Agencies (EANA), for a two-year mandate, during the organisation’s General Assembly held in Paris on Thursday, September 14th, 2023.  He will replace Clemens Pig, CEO of the Austrian news agency APA, in the role.

“EANA is the perfect forum to foster cooperation between its members on issues of mutual interest such as the use of AI in the newsroom, and to make the news agencies’ voice heard on matters such as the protection of intellectual property”, said Fries.

Claudia Nicolae, Director General of AGERPRES (Romania) was also elected as EANA’s new board member, for a three-year term. She will be joining existing board members Elmir Huremovic, General Manager of FENA (Bosnia-Herzegovina), Stefano de Alessandri, CEO of ANSA (Italy), and Alexandru Giboi, Secretary General of EANA.
