AFP photographer Patrick T. Fallon awarded with several prizes at the PPAGLA

Patrick T. Fallon received 7 awards during the 2022 Press Photographers Association of Greater Los Angeles Annual Contest (PPAGLA) edition.

2nd and 3rd prize in the Feature category

2nd prize for the picture of a migrant who just crossed the wall at the US-Mexico border in El Paso, Texas, on December 19, 2022.

 

3rd price for “Gas price” – the photo of a technician fixing a gas station billboard, near an advertising board showing John Oliver facing the world going up in smoke, on March 8, 2022.

 

Awards of Excellence in the Pictorial category

Award of Excellence for an aerial view taken on December 20, 2022 and showing a part of the border wall between the US and Mexico, built with containers. Its construction was demanded by Republican Governor Doug Ducey.

 

Award of Excellence for the view of a gas station alongside the Route 66 in the city of Amboy, in the Mojave Desert, California, on August 30, 2022.

 

Spot News category

2nd prize for the picture of a man gathering items on a railroad littered with thousands of open boxes and parcels stolen from containers during train stops, on January 14, 2022. 

 

Animal category

2nd prize for the picture of a grizzly climbing a hill under the snow in Denali National Park in Alaska, on September 21, 2022. This photograph is part of AFP’s long-term coverage on climate change.

 

Fire category

Award of Excellence for a photo of CalFire (California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection) firefighters intervening to put out the “Fairview Fire” which devastated a peripheral region of os Angeles, in Hemet, on September 8, 2022.
