Fabrice Coffrini wins the first prize at Swiss Press Photo 2023

 

The Swiss Press Photo has honoured AFP photographer Fabrice Coffrini with the first prize in the News category.

 

Fabrice Coffrini has won this award thanks to his photo series on the record melting of Swiss glaciers in 2022. Aftera dry winter and a long, intense summer heat wave, these glaciers broke all records for melting, reaching 6% of their total volume. This phenomenon, which is likely to accelerate over time, has alerted many experts as well as the photographer himself, who has been covering this issue for several years.

Fabrice Coffrini, who has been working for AFP since 2005, has won the first prize in this competition for the first time.

The Swiss Press Photo prizes are awarded annually by the Reinhardt von Graffenried Foundation. The Swiss Press Photographer of the Year will be announced on April 28, 2023.
